The Egyptian Grand Mufti Sheikh Ali Gomah is making his first ever visit to India to take part in an international Islamic conference in Kerala and meet top Indian leaders, including vice president Hamid Ansari.

The Egyptian Grand Mufti Sheikh Ali Jommah made his  first ever visit to India to take part in an international Islamic conference in Kerala . He is also shaduled to meet top Indian leaders, including vice president Hamid Ansari.

Sheikh Ali Jomah, the current Mufti and one of the world''s most recognisable Muslim scholars, will deliver a special address at the conference which is being attended by Ulemas world over, Egyptian Ambassador Khaled al-Baqly, said.
 
After attending the conference, he will fly to New Delhi for talks with Vice President Hamid Ansari and Minister of New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah on Monday. 

The conference, organised by the Sunni Culture Centre University, will see Gomaa giving a speech that will take up the message of Islam to the world and its call for co-existence among followers of various cultures and civilisations, he said.

In his speech the Mufti will also emphasise facets of Islam that reject violence and terrorism, he said.

Several political leaders from Arab and Islamic countries and followers of Islamic religion are also expected to attend, he added.
