Cleric proposes Islamic proximity cooperation with Turkey

Prominent Iranian scholar has sent message for Turkey’s religious organization proposing ways for academic cooperation and promoting Islamic proximity activities between the two countries.

Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought in a message delivered by Hujjat-ul-Islam Mohammad Hussein Mokhtari to Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs proposing expansion of cooperation on Islamic proximity, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
The cleric opened his message on dispersion of Muslims during several centuries, a plague which has led to a state of frailty undermining unity between Muslim states.
 
He said,” Liberal and pious Muslims are demanded to endeavor for solidarity between Islamic nations and boosting ties among all religious groups.”
 
According to the Iranian scholar, it was in this line that World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought was launched, a move leading to establishment of the University of Islamic Denominations (UID) to convene students and professors from all Islamic schools of thought.
 
Ayatollah Araki related on the objectives of the University of Islamic Denominations to create an ambiance for higher education studies, building an ambiance for theoretic studies and practical measures manifesting the ideology of proximity as well as directing religious debates in an air away from sectarian thoughts.
 
Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought proposed launching a branch of Iran’s University of Islamic Denominations in Turkey and also joint dialogue groups comprising religious leaders from Iran’s world forum and Turkey’s religious affairs organization.
 
The cleric concluded his message with an invitation for Ali Erbas for a visit to Iran’s University of Islamic Denominations and expressed hope that the move would make a step to lift challenges for dialogue and friendly ties between religious scholars in the world of Islam.
 
Hujjat-ul-Islam Mokhtari, head of the University of Islamic Denominations (UID) delivered the message by Ayatollah Araki to Ali Erbas in a meeting with the Turkish figure on Tuesday.
