National Reporter’s Day marked in Iran

News agencies have marked National Reporter’s Day commemorating the anniversary of the martyrdom of an Iranian reporter in Afghanistan.



August 8 was named National Reporter’s Day in Islamic Iran thereafter Taliban militants killed the correspondent of IRNA, Mahmoud Saremi, along with eight other Iranian diplomats in 1998, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

In this day, News agencies have marked National Reporter’s Day commemorating the anniversary of the martyrdom of an Iranian reporter in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif.

The leading role of reporters in informing people on realities has been always highlighted by Iranian officials and religious thinkers.

To them, reporters are shouldered with responsibility of disseminating correct and timely information; it is incumbent upon them to show people the events occuring around them and unmask the face of real enemeis.
