The 50th edition of IChO was held July 19 to 29 with the participation of some 300 students from 78 countries across the world and jointly hosted by Slovakia and Czech Republic.

During the event, Iranian students including Behzad Saiedi, Arshia Khademi, Mehdi Jafarzadeh and Mohammad Hassan Sharifnia claimed 4 silver medals.

IChO is an annual competition for the world’s most talented chemistry students at the secondary school level. Students are tested on their chemistry knowledge and skills in a five-hour laboratory practical and five-hour written theoretical examination that are held on separate days with the practical examination usually being before the theoretical examination.
