Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani congratulated Binali Yıldırım on election as the first speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

In a message on Friday, Larijani underlined the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening ties and amity between the two countries, adding "I am confident that Iran-Turkey parliamentary relations will enter new stage of development thanks to active cooperation during your tenure."

Larijani also wished success and progress for the Turkish government and nation.
Turkish lawmakers on Thursday elected Binali Yıldırım as the first speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly under the new government system.
