“Islamic unity, Imam Khomeini’s prime concern since beginning”, cleric

Senior Iranian cleric, in his speech on passing away anniversary of Imam Khomeini (RA), highlighted Islamic unity as the major concern for the late founder of Islamic Revolution since the beginning of the movement.
 
Ayatollah Mohammad Hussein Mokhtari, head of the University of Islamic Denominations, in his speech at a ceremony held in Pretoria, South Africa detailed importance of solidarity among Muslims in view of Imam Khomeini (RA), reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
This ceremony with the theme of "Islamic unity in view of Imam Khomeini (RA)" was also attended by both Shia and Sunni scholars.
 
Ayatollah Mokhtari alluded to several quotes by the late founder of Islamic Revolution on importance of solidarity among Muslims.
 
He expressed regret over inaccurate interpretations of holy scripts by different extremist groups calling that a hurdle on the way of boosting Islamic solidarity.

“Inaccurate interpretations about Jihad have led to misrepresentation of Muslims in the world” said Ayatollah Mokhtari and slammed a tradition of fratricide among extremist groups in search of their objectives.

He warned against divert interpretation which aid enemies of Islam to invade Islamic lands and divide Muslims.

Iranian top cleric also touched upon the role of mosques, scholars and universities in creation of Islamic unity saying, ”Correct interpretation of Islamic principles, warning against extremist groups as well as enlightening others by writing books and giving lectures  are among the ways to prevent the younger generation from extremist thoughts.”
