"US President Donald Trump has degraded America and has embarrassed his nation to justify his behavior," pointed out Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani in an address to worshippers at the Friday prayers weekly event in Tehran.
Trump is a vicious man claiming to pursue justice inside the US and abroad, but he is a liar, the cleric added.
Describing Trump’s artificial support for justice as a cover-up for his cheap behavior, Ayatollah Emami Kashani said the US president’s attempts to mobilize the international community against Iran have been of no avail.
The US has waged wars in the Middle East region and has focused efforts to harm the Islamic Republic, the cleric deplored, saying all those hostile plots have backfired.
The Al Saud regime and the White House spent huge amounts of money for Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group, which “went to hell” at last, he noted.
His comments came after the international community’s resounding rejection of the US president’s decision to recognize the Palestinian city of al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the new capital of Israel.
On Thursday, the United Nations General Assembly approved a resolution with 128 votes in favor to declare Trump's recognition of al-Quds as Israel's capital "null and void".
Calling on all UN member states to refrain from establishing embassies in al-Quds, the resolution has also demanded that they comply with all relevant Security Council resolutions and work to reverse the “negative trends” imperiling a two‑state solution.
Shortly after the vote, Palestinian leaders called the vote a victory for Palestine and thanked the UN member states that rejected Trump's unilateral move "despite all the pressure exerted on them".
