Foad Izadi, professor of international relations at Tehran University, in an interview with Fars News Agency (FNA) condemned the hostile efforts targeting the Islamic system in Iran and noted the latest US sanctions against two Iranian institutions are imposed in line with weakening the effective organizations in the country, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
In its last days in power, Donald Trump administration has imposed new sanctions on Iranian foundations the state organization Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order (EIKO), and Astan Quds Razavi (AQR), an organization that manages the holy shrine of Imam Reza, the eighth Shia Imam.
Foad Izadi noted," Since early days of the Islamic Revolution, the US aimed to topple the system in Iran; hence, it has been and will be in pursuit of damaging any institution which contributes to cultural, economic and political promotion of our country."
He referred to affection of world Muslims, particularly the Shia community, for the eighth Shia Imam, Imam Reza (AS) and noted the achievements and global popularity of the holy shrine as a reason behind US sanctions against the holy site.
"The United States believes that a reason for victory of the Islamic Revolution, its stability and promotion of Iran is due to the religious morale among Iranian people" said Foad Izadi and noted the efforts to challenge the religious beliefs among Iranians.
The US has blacklisted two Iranian foundations and their subsidies, claiming the institutions kept the ownership over large parts of the country’s economy.
