Berlin summit, meeting of new players seeking a portion

22 Jan 2020 - 15:09

Jafar Ghanadbashi, Iranian political commentator in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) noted that participants in Berlin summit concluded with ban on transferring arms to Libya rather than signing permanent truce in the African country.

He said,” Berlin summit did not serve as a meeting for truce in Libya as different countries had aimed for seeking their own portion of post-truce Libya.”

Iranian commentator referred to “new actors” entering the competition in Libya with the illusion that the war in Libya has reached dead end and a good opportunity to reach out for an advantage of the crisis.

Iranian expert on Africa affairs criticized participants in Berlin conference asking why have not the United Nations, European Union, African Union, the United States and United Kingdom held a meeting during the past years of massacre in the African country.

“None of the warring sides in Libya have admitted the truce yet in order to make further decisions for the future of the country” he said and added the agreement banning transferring arms to Libya was only a repetition of previously admitted ban.
