Esameddin Gougalan, manager of Rabbanieh Sunni seminary in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) denounced the latest US sanctions against Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressing that such moves have never undermined solidarity of the Iranian nation.
He said,” Although world colonial powers including the US and UK are in pursuit of invading Islamic Revolution they have not been successful in undermining solidarity of the Iranian nation.”
Gougalan hailed the continuation of the Islamic Revolution due to wisdom of the Supreme Leader, Iranian authorities and people and said,” The US has sanctioned the Leader, IRGC and now Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in line with its aggressive policies against Iran.”
The Sunni cleric vowed the sanctions boosting solidarity of the Iranian nation.
On Wednesday 31 July, the US departments of State and Treasury in separate messages announced the imposition of sanctions against Zarif because he “acted or purported to act for or on behalf of, directly or indirectly, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran”.
In his statmenet on blacklisting Zarif, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claimed that the top Iranian diplomat is a “key enabler” of Iran’s policies throughout the region and the world.
