Millions of mourners take the long journey, a majority of them march all the path to the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) to the holy city of Karbala, Iraq to attend Arba’een ceremony. The community from different nationalities and ethnicities echo their solidarity based on their loyalty for the third Shia Imam and pay tribute to the great figure because of the great sacrifice he made. Imam Hussein (AS) rose against the tyrant ruler of his time Yazid ibn Muawiyah. The third Shia Imam and 72 of his companions and household members were martyred in the Battle of Karbala in 632 Ah. The date has made a landmark in the history of Shia Islam drawing loyalty and respect from other denominations and religions who also join Muslims in the ceremony every year.
