Greece bishop hails religious coexistence in Iran

Representative of Greece Orthodox church met with Iran’s cultural attaché in Athens hailing the coexistence of different religious groups in the Islamic Republic expressing regret over hostile activities performed in the name of religion.

Bishop Antonius Malouf, representative of Greek Orthodox Church referred to peaceful life led by Jewish, Christian and Zoroastrian Iranians in the Islamic Republic calling that manifestation of Iran’s support for different religions in line with creating peace and coexistence among religions, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He referred to the Orthodox Church located in the downtown district in the Iranian capital hailing that as proof for Tehran’s determination to protect the coexistence among all religious groups.
 
“It is a shame that a group of people clash with others under the pretext of religious reasons” he said and slammed hostile moves which target global peace.
 
The bishop underlined the fraternal ties between Muslim and Christian members of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement assimilating that to the respect received among members of the same faith.
 
Bishop Malouf expressed regret for efforts by Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and some Persian Gulf Arab states to undermine the religious solidarity among people and said,” Had it not been for the Iranian support for Syria, Iraq and other countries we would have been witness to the worst catastrophe in history.”
 
Ali Mohammad Helmi, Iranian cultural attaché in Athens also expressed regret over endeavor by some regional countries to destabilize the domestic peace in the Islamic countries and slammed the warmongering governments to scrap the peaceful relations between different religions and mastermind Takfiri and terrorist groups in the Middle East region.
