Sheikh Amer al-Bayati, spokesman for Iraq’s Dar al-Ifta met with Hujjat-ul-Islam Gholamreza Abazari, Iranian cultural attaché in Baghdad to praise Islamic Unity Conference as Tehran’s effort in line with boosting regional unity, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He referred to possible grounds for cooperation between religious figures from Iran and Iraq and said,” Enemies have struggled for dividing the people and spark sectarian wars in Iraq but the mutual ties among Iranian and Iraqi religious figures are strong enough.”
 
The cleric reiterated necessity of maintaining solidarity and compassion among all Muslims and said,” Islamic Unity Conference 2019 was a practical instance for the desired compassion among Muslims.”
 
He lauded the efforts by Islamic Republic of Iran for safeguarding Islamic solidarity amid the present situation in the Middle East region and highlighted the conferences and meetings on the topic as manifestation of these endeavors.
 
32nd Islamic Unity Conference was held in the Iranian capital of Tehran attended by several religious and political figures from across the globe concurrent with Islamic Unity Week on 24-26 December  with the theme of Al-Quds, axis of unity among Muslims.
