After his visit to Tehran, President of Iraq holds talks with Saudi King

Iraqi President Barham Salih and Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz discussed on Sunday ways to strengthen bilateral relations and the developments in the Middle East.
After his visit to Tehran, President of Iraq holds talks with Saudi King
This came in a meeting in Riyadh as part of a Salih’s external visits that included Iran, where he met on Saturday with his counterpart Hassan Rouhani and Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Hosseini Khamenei, and discussed with them ways to strengthen bilateral relations.
Amid reciprocal accusations, the Saudi-Iranian relations are dominated by conflicts between the two sides. This is evident in many regional matters, most notably Yemen, Saudi Arabia’s neighbouring country.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said that King Salman held a session of talks, today, with the Iraqi president.
The two sides reviewed the close relations between the two countries, ways to strengthen and develop them in various fields, in addition to discussing developments in the Middle East, according to the agency.
The agency did not mention the period of Salih’s visit to the kingdom.
A few days ago, Salih visited Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan as part of his first external visits since he was elected as president of Iraq on October 2.
It is noted that Iraq has been seeking external support for the reconstruction of the country, which has been severely affected by a raging war against the terrorist group Daesh over three years (2014-2017).
