“Kowthar of Arba’een” published

In the wake of major Islamic commemoration of the third Shia Imam, senior Iranian jurisprudent has issued his views on Arba’een and importance of visiting the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS).

“Kawthar of Arba’een” by top Iranian jurisprudent Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi is a book including the cleric’s views, quotes and remarks on commemoration of Imam Hussein (AS) published in the wake of the ceremony, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
According to the international deputy at the bureau of Ayatollah Makarem the first chapter in this book relates on importance of pilgrimage, reason, objectives, stages and also outcomes of this visit. This chapter also includes paragraphs on Wahhabi misconceptions dismissing pilgrimage to gravestones belonging to Imams.
 
The second chapter explains importance of pilgrimage to the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) with the third chapter detailing Arba’een prayer and features of number 40.
 
Still another part of the book explains the march of Arba’een plus the cultural, social and political influences of the major pilgrimage.
 
Arba’een marks the anniversary of 40th day after martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam, who rose against the tyrant ruler of his time and was martyred alongside 72 of his household members and loyal companions in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD.
