Ex-Saudi envoy to US: Killing of Khashoggi is the killing of all humanity

The former Saudi ambassador to the United States, Prince Turki Al Faisal, has publicly said that the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi is alike to the killing of the whole of humanity.
Speaking at an address at the 27th Annual Arab-US Policymakers Conference at the National Council on US-Arab Relations on Wednesday, Prince Turki quoted the Quranic verse in commemoration of Khashoggi who lived in self-imposed exile as a result of his criticism of the Saudi government.
Khashoggi previously worked as a media adviser under Turki between 2003 and 2007 when he served as ambassador to London and then Washington.
Commenting on how the controversy would impact US-Saudi relations, Turki recalled previous challenges which had occurred and been dealt with – such as the oil embargo in the 1970s and the 9/11 attacks – all of which were overcome and did not compromise bilateral relations in any major way. Relations between the United States and Saudi Arabia, the Prince insisted, are “thicker than water”.
The “intensity and gleefulness” with which the international media conducted the “onslaught and demonisation” of the Kingdom, however, was heavily criticised by Prince Turki who called it “unfair and malicious”.
“Subjecting our relationship to this issue is not healthy at all. Saudi Arabia is committed to bringing to justice those responsible for Jamal Khashoggi’s murder and anybody else who failed in upholding the law. Justice will run its course,” he said.
