Prominent Iranian shia scholar has counted political, religious and social achievements of Arba’een stressing solidarity of Muslims and non-Muslims amid major Shia ceremony.

Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, top Shia jurisprudent, noted the different aspects of Arba’een ceremony and said the multi-million congregation revives Shia and Islam, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
The cleric participating in educational meeting of preachers to Arba’een ceremony called clerics for utmost efforts during the major Shia gathering.
 
He said,” Arba’een pilgrimage has several achievements one of the most important is solidarity among Shia community with community of other Islamic denominations and non-Muslims who attend the ceremony out of their loyalty for Imam Hussein (AS).”
 
The jurisprudent added,” People attend the ceremony at one call from clerics and this is the revival of Shia and Islam when the multi-million gathering manifests its political and religious privileges for Muslim world.”
 
Ayatollah Makarem called Arba’een ceremony a thorn in the side of the enemies while it provides a review on the tragedy of Karbala and leading the people to its lessons.
 
Arbaeen is the 40th day after martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) who rose against the tyrant ruler of his time, Yazid ibn Muawiya.
 
Imam Hussein (AS) and 72 of his family members and loyal companions were martyred in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD leaving a landmark in the history of Shia Islam.
