3 Oct 2018 - 13:47

Iranian cleric said that the name of third Shia Imam has turned to a unifying factor between Iranian and Iraqi nations.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Habibreza Arzani, secretariat of cultural centers of mosques across Iran, attended the second meeting on Arbaeen saying that the ceremony has turned to the motto of Shia Muslims across the world, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He referred to special programs scheduled to mark Arbaeen (fortieth day after martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS)) and said,” The reason for these programs is the hostile endeavors which have targeted the ties between Iranian and Iraqi nations undermining the long fraternal ties between the two neighboring nations.”

The cleric hailed the friendly ties between Shia and Sunni communities in Iraq and Iran and said to choose the motto of “Hussein (AS) brings us together” as a wise option.

He referred to proximity approach of the Supreme Leader and praised that as an effective model which can boost the solidarity of Iranian and Iraqi people.

Hujjat-ul-Islam lauded Arbaeen as an unparalleled festival among all festivals held across the globe.

He stressed,” To launch Arbaeen caravans aimed unifying people based on their loyalty for the third Shia Imam and the only badge common between all people is “loyal to Imam Hussein (AS).”

Arbaeen is the fortieth day after martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) in the Battle of Karbala. Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) rose against the tyrant ruler of his time, Yazid ibn Muawiya.

Imam Hussein (AS) and 72 of his companions and household members were all martyred in the Battle of Karbala back in 680 AD.

Millions of Muslims from across the globe mark the martyrdom of Imam Hussein and make one of the biggest marches as they take the way towards the holy city of Karbala every year.
