Imam Hussein (AS) belongs to humanity

16 Sep 2018 - 13:27

It is a fact that had not Imam Hussein fought the Battle of Karbala, Islam would have lost its popularity; hence, blood of the third Shia Imam and his confrontation with oppression has safeguarded the honor of Islam.

Seyyed Baha-eddin Husseini, Iranian Sunni Muslim has hailed the global character of Imam Hussein (AS) stressing that the holy religion of Islam has been saved only due to the sacrifice made by the third Shia Imam, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He called for solidarity of different Islamic denominations based on their commonalities stressing the diversity of ways through which Muslims express their loyalty for Imam Hussein (AS).

“No one has the right to exclude non-Shia Muslims from those loyal to Imam Hussein (AS)” said the Iranian Sunni Muslims and added,” since prominent Indian leader mahatma Gandhi had also set the third Shia Imam as role model in his campaign for independence.”

He added,” This is why Imam Hussein (AS) and the Battle of Karbala have gone beyond borders of Islam and one cannot confine the incident within the borders of Iran or Shia Sunni beliefs.”

He reiterated the honor of Islam revived by the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) and said,” He who lost the Battle of Karbala was the then tyrant Yazid ibn Muawiyah” adding,” Karbala put an end to Yazidi thoughts” as part of views by Sunni community on the martyrdom of third Shia Imam.

Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), and 72 of his companions and family members were martyred in the Battle of Karbala, an uprising against the tyrant of the time Yazid ibn Muawiay back in 680 AD.

Million of Muslims across the globe mark Ashura, the martyrdom of third Shia Imam in mourning ceremonies with some paying pilgrimage to Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine in the Iraqi city of Karbala.
