Cleric calls for academic confrontation with extremism
We need theoretical and academic actions to enlighten the minds of people and take preventive measures against extremism and excommunication.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Mohammad Hussein Mokhtari, director of the University of Islamic Denominations, met with a delegation of Lebanese professors to exchange views on ‘extremism and excommunication’ as one of the major challenges for the world of Islam, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He called ‘extremism and excommunication’ as two most important challenges for the world of Islam and said,” We need theoretical and academic actions to enlighten the minds of people and take preventive measures against extremism and excommunication.”
The cleric added,” No matter which denomination we follow, we are responsible to introduce the moderate Islam we have learnt from Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) to the younger generation, a mission which has been successfully fulfilled by the University of Islamic Denomination up to now.”
He announced readiness of the Iranian religious academy for students swap deal with Lebanon and expressed hope for more cooperation towards boosting Islamic proximity.”
He referred to the inspiration behind launching the University of Islamic Denominations based on the axis of boosting Islamic unity at the command of the Supreme Leader and said,” Islamic solidarity has been a key motto since the beginning steps following victory of Islamic Revolution until the orders for launching the university were issued; hence, the University of Islamic Denominations is in fact the academic and theoretical foundation for proximity project.”
Hujjat-ul-Islam Mokhtari said over 25 fields of humanities are taught to students from different denominations announcing plans for adding more fields to the present curriculum of the academy.
He counted coexistence between alumni from different denominations in classes and the campus as an advantage of the university which is a practical proof for proximity and interaction between followers of all Islamic denominations.
Director of the University of Islamic Denominations also counted the recent activities of the university in the international arena and referred to several agreements reached with academic centers from over 10 countries to expand scientific cooperation as well as students and professors swap programs.
