“Ghadir, grounds for boosting Islamic unity and monotheism”, Ayat. Sobhani

Prominent Iranian jurisprudent has called Ghadir Khumm event as evidence for unity among Muslims demanding for spread of the ideology in a bid to expand monotheism and solidarity.

Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani, Shia jurisprudent in the holy city of Qom, Iran, stressed importance of commemorating Ghadir event as a move to boost solidarity of Muslims since the event is also approved in several Sunni references, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Top seminary professor hailed Ghadir Khumm as evidence on solidarity of Muslims as it is also approved by the Sunni community.

He said,” To announce the successorship of Imam Ali (AS), first Shia Imam and cousin of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was so important that God Almighty equaled that as the complementary to the main mission of prophet Mohammad (PBUH).”

Back in 632 and on the way back from Hajj pilgrimage Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) gathered Muslims to appoint his successor as the leader of Islamic nation. Shia community believes Ghadir as the official appointment of Imam Ali(AS) as the successor of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH); hence, the anniversary is marked as Eid al-Ghadir mainly by Shia worldwide.
