Trump says has ‘nothing to lose’ in meeting with foreign leaders: It’s a good thing!
US President Donald Trump has defended meeting with foreign leaders, suggesting that he has “nothing to lose.”

Trump released a nearly minute-long video on Twitter on Saturday, defending his meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
“I’ve said for a long time, if you’re president, you should meet with foreign leaders. You have nothing to lose and you have a lot to gain,” he said.
It was not clear what accomplishments Trump was referring to in the clip about his summit with Putin in the Finnish capital Helsinki, where he sided with Putin's denial of Russian meddling in the 2016 US presidential election.
Trump’s performance kicked off a hailstorm of criticism against him at home, forcing the president to take back his denial of alleged Russian meddling later and cancel a scheduled meeting with the Russian president.
This is while US officials acknowledge that there have been no public signs of denuclearization in North Korea despite the Trump-Kim meeting in Singapore.
Trump has previously voiced interest in meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
“It’s good for the country, good for them, good for us and good for the world. No preconditions. If they want to meet, I’ll meet,” Trump said at a recent press conference.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, a former CIA chief, later listed some preconditions for such a meeting.
Tehran, meanwhile, maintains that it will not negotiate under pressure and threats, asserting that Washington should return to the nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The US president withdrew Washington from the landmark nuclear agreement in May and decided to re-impose unilateral sanctions against Iran.
