Iranian women capture crown at 2018 WABA 3x3 Cup

The Iran women’s national 3x3 basketball team has proudly claimed crown at the 2018 West Asian Basketball Association (WABA) 3x3 Cup in Lebanon, thanks to the great performances it delivered during the regional tournament.

On Friday, the Iranian squad triumphed over the Syrian side 18-15 at the end of the final showdown in the Lebanese capital city of Beirut.

The 2018 WABA 3x3 Cup started on Thursday and wrapped up the following day.
The Iran women’s national 3x3 basketball team defeated the hosts in its opening fixture, but slumped to the Syrian squad in the second game.

The Iranian sportswomen then trounced their Iraqi counterparts to book themselves a spot in the semifinals.

They once again downed the Lebanese team and stormed into the title challenge.
The Iranian outfit comprised of Tina Issaian, Saeedeh Elli, Masoumeh Esmaeilzadeh Soudjani and Mozhgan Khodadadi.

They were under the tutelage of Nika Beyk-Liklee as the head coach.
The 3x3 (pronounced three on three) basketball is a form of the game played three a side on one hoop.

The basketball discipline is currently being promoted and structured by FIBA, and the highest tournament for national 3x3 teams is the FIBA 3x3 World Championships.
