New UK parliament motion condemns Israel’s ‘massacre of Palestinian protesters’

A Parliamentary Early Day Motion was tabled yesterday condemning Israeli forces’ “massacre of Palestinian protesters along the Gaza border fence”.
New UK parliament motion condemns Israel’s ‘massacre of Palestinian protesters’
The motion, backed by MPs from the Labour Party, Scottish National Party, and Plaid Cymru, urges the British government “to unequivocally condemn” the recent killing of Palestinian demonstrators.
The government should also “reaffirm the rights of protected persons under belligerent occupation and insist on an independent investigation into the unlawful use of live ammunition against protesters as well as outlining actions and sanctions should such an investigation not take place.”
The MPs further ask that the Foreign Office summon the Israeli ambassador “for an explanation into the massacre” and assert that “the path to peace and a two-state solution is being undermined by the Israeli Government”.
Israeli authorities have “deliberately engineered a humanitarian crisis in Gaza through the decade-long blockade”, have “taken provocative action with the relocation of the US Embassy in Jerusalem”, and “proactively undermined a viable Palestinian State through settlement building”.
The motion concludes by asking “the Government to follow up that strong condemnation with tangible actions to prohibit further attacks on civilian protesters.”
