Iran, Spain to promote coop. on advanced technologies

Iran and Spain reached an agreement to enter into scientific cooperation on advanced technologies.


 

The first meeting of the joint commission of economic collaborations between Iran and Spain was held on the 4th and 5th of December 2017 in the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness of Spain, with the representative of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology and agents from 10 knowledge-based companies in the areas of medication, medical and laboratory equipment, agriculture, oil and gas and information technology in attendance.

The commission was headed by Mojtaba Khosrotaj, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade and the Chairman of Iran's Trade Promotion Organization (TPO), and Marisa Poncela, Spanish secretary of state for commerce.

During this meeting, both parties evaluated the capacities and areas of cooperation between the two countries and emphasized the establishment of various working groups within the framework of the roadmap for the development of bilateral collaborations, especially in industrial technologies, agriculture, tourism and infrastructure.

Alaei Tabatabaei, Director General for Technology Exchange of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology who accompanied knowledge-based companies in this event introduced the cooperation opportunities between the technological organizations of the two countries. In addition, he pointed out the priorities of advanced technologies in Iran and the cooperation paths with Spanish companies in exchange of knowledge and creation of joint collaborations with the Iranian knowledge-based companies.

Director General for technology exchange also had an exclusive meeting with Carmen Vela, the Secretary of State of Investigation, Development and Innovation. During this meeting, he reviewed the previous collaborations of the two countries, such as cooperation in Alba project, and called for more extended bilateral cooperation and initiation of technological collaborations in all the common areas.

At the end of the joint commission, document of cooperation roadmap between the two countries, statement of the summit of the joint commission on economic cooperation between Iran and Spain, and a cooperation agreement between the Export Guarantee Fund of Iran and Spanish Export Credit Agency were signed.

Other programs of this travel included a commercial meeting between the knowledge-based companies of the two parties, during which the Iranian knowledge-based companies had serious negotiations with more than 50 Spanish companies which led to drawing considerable cooperation outlines.
