FM Zarif praises global sympathy over Iran deadly quake

Iranian Foreign Minister in his newly message released on Twitter praised the world for expressing sympathy and offering assistance over the deadly quake in western Iran.


"Heartbreaking images from the earthquake damage and loss of life in Kermanshah (and in Iraq). We are grateful for global expressions of sympathy and offers of assistance," the message went.

"For now, we can manage with our own resources. Many thanks for all offers and we will keep you posted," Mohhamad Javad Zarif stressed said in a Twitter message released on Tuesday.

Foreign leaders have extended their condolence messages. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, German Ambassador in Tehran Michael Klor-Berchtold, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, Pope Fracis of the Catholic Church and President of International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer are among the high-ranking politicians who sympathized with the Iranian peope and government on the tragic event.

Latest reports on the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that hit Kermanshah Province, western Iran and bordering Iraq, on Sunday night, said that it has so far claimed at least 430 lives and injured over 7,460 others.
