Sunni mosques and seminaries grown by ten folds
Secretariat of the programming council at Seminary schools, Sunni prayer leaders, managers and prominent clerics in Iran has sent a letter to Egypt replying an earlier statement issued by Shaikh Shawki Ibrahim Allam, inviting the religious leader to see the realities behind the misrepresented life of the Sunni community in Iran in a visit to the country, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Iranian Sunni figures in their letter have hailed the concerns of Egyptian mufti for the terrorist attacks replying other accusations by him over the situation of the Sunni community as a result of fake news by hostile media and misrepresentation of the reality in the country.

Part of the letter to Sheikh Shawki Ibrahim Allam is expression of gratitude for the Egyptian religious leader for his wise stances on different issues across the world of Islam and statement denouncing the terrorist attacks in Tehran.

Iranian scholars in their letter have slammed the Takfiri ideology which indiscriminately targets Shia and Sunni and rejected the inverted facts shown to the mufti over the situation of Sunni Muslims in Iran saying,” People in other countries receive the information from news channels and propaganda on fake media while Islam rejects lies and words in contrast with reality.”

The scholars in another part of the letter have referred to the population of Sunni Iranians across the country with over 16’000 mosques and more than 12’000 scholars studying Sunni Fiq’h.

They also hailed a ten-fold growth in the number of mosques and seminaries in comparison with those in pre-revolution era in Iran saying that such a promotion would not be possible had it not been for the supports of Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to the Sunni scholars the minority group in Iran is represented by over 20 representatives in the Parliament and also judges from the same denomination issuing statements based on Sunni Sharia.

Prayer leaders and scholars in Iran demanded Shawki Ibrahim Allam to visit Iran and the situation of Sunni community in the country.
Following the terrorist attacks against Iran’s Parliament and the mausoleum of late Imam Khomeini (RA), top mufti of Egypt had issued a statement to slam the move and express his concerns over the situation of Sunni community in Iran to which the Sunni elites and prayer leaders have recently answered and praised the promotion of Sunni mosques and seminaries in a Shia-controlled country.
