US embassy move, awakening for Muslims

11 Dec 2017 - 15:07

Top Iranian Sunni scholar slammed Donald Trump’s decision to move US embassy to Jerusalem al-Quds as a dangerous decision and an awakening alarm for Muslims.

Mamusta Seyyed Mostafa Khatami, prayer leader of Sunni community in Oshnaviyeh, Iran’s Western Azerbaijan Province, in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) denounced the recent claim by US President to claim Jerusalem as the Israeli capital as disrespectful and awakening alarm for world Muslims.

Prominent Iranian cleric noted that the move will lead to another crisis in the Middle East and added,” Following the announcement, we have been witness to popular uprisings in most of Islamic and Arabic countries against the US and Zionist regime which will certainly impede realization of the decision.”

The scholar noted that the issue of Palestine had been marginalized in some countries but a new Intifadha is launched while Muslims are noting their original Qibla (praying direction) and stand in a unanimous front against Trump.

Representative of the Supreme Leader in Sunni affairs in Oshnaviyeh noted,” This decision is firstly a call for war against Muslims and secondly a sacrilegious act against the feeling and Qibla of Muslims.”

He expressed hope that the flag of Islam “There is no god but Allah” is hoisted on al-Quds Mosque.

Mamusta Khatami highlighted solidarity as the important mission of all Muslims amid the current critical situation and said,” Unity plays a key role in advancement and construction of the Islamic system.

He alluded to Qur’an stressing necessity of unity among Muslims and vowed that solidarity is the way to beat the enemies.
