Iraqi figure notes:

Kurdistan independence referendum, mere delusion

Iraqi-descent guest to Tehran’s international conference on diplomacy of unity says Kurdistan is living in a delusion by promoting the idea of an independent state.
Kurdistan independence referendum, mere delusion
Mohammad Baba, member of Ahlulbayt Islamic Mission in UK, in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) has rejected any idea of splitting for countries and governments saying that Kurdistan will be badly affected by promoting the idea of an independent state.

Participant in the first international conference on “The Role of Proximity World Unions of Muslim Elites in Practicing Diplomacy of Unity” in Tehran referred to Brexit as the latest example of a country’s splitting with unwelcome conclusions for the government and
nation.

He said,” Kurdistan is living in a delusion by the idea of establishing an independent country” and vowed that pursuit of the idea will lead the country to be isolated and easily targeted.”
He said the idea of independence will not work in favor of the Kurds and that they should rethink the notion.

Member of the Union of Proximity Youths in this conference hailed Iraqi support for the Kurdish semi-autonomous government and the people saying,” Iraqi government has held, defended their rights, funded Kurds, fought Daesh to protect Kurds, and protected their borders as well as allocating 17% of Iraqi budget for Kurdistan.”

He said,” If it is a nationalistic issue then their issue is not about the country but a
deeper issue which has to be solved within themselves.”

Iraqi elite in Tehran conference expressed concern that the issue of an independent Kurdistan will overflow into neighboring countries like Iran, Turkey and Syria where other Kurds also inhabit.”
He noted that Israel is a big part of this problem and they have been quite open about that when the people have raised Israeli flag.

According to Mohammad Baba this referendum is a very big hand in dividing the Ummah (Islamic nation),” Since enemies want to keep Iraq in constant dilemma of problems moving from Qaeda to Daesh now Kurdistan and tomorrow Israel and then something else” adding,” They want to keep the people of Iraq and Kurdistan region, who think of making it a better place, to be thinking of war.”
