Recent Arab League meeting: proof for failure of Saudi interventionist policies

Arab states do not intend to continue company with Saudi policies and be a partner in its crimes and other costs of the policies.
Recent Arab League meeting: proof for failure of Saudi interventionist policies
Following expert level analysis on the recent Arab League meeting, latest statement by Hamas movement on clearing the issue of Palestine from agenda of the Arab League has been especially focused as an important evidence in releasing the strategy of the movement; particularly when Hamas, at the end of the meeting in Nouakchotts  stressed,” No meeting in the Arab world can ignore the issue of Palestine and any move to cover pro-Israeli policies of the movement is rejected.

Hamas statement then stresses that the only solution for the issue of Palestine is through resistance against Israel occupation.

Indeed other stances by the Arab League have also been widely criticized while, in terms of quantity and combination of the participating states, the recent meeting has been a show of weakness and failures of the Arab League.

Ahmad Kazemzadeh, Iranian political expert on West Asia affairs, in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) has related on the meeting which comes as follows.

Q: What was the difference between the recent meeting of the Arab League leaders (in Mauritanian capital of Nouakchott) and previous meetings of the group and what are the reasons for that?

A: Previous meetings were usually held by one of the states in charge of holding periodical meetings while Saudi Arabia intended to show it as an emergency meeting and that was the reason it demanded Morocco to host the event while it rejected due to lack of justifications for the meeting. Besides that it had found out that Saudi Arabia intended to use Morocco as a means for its ends.

Following the rejection of Saudi demand by Morocco, the Arab kingdom focused on Mauritania to demand it for hosting the meeting. The country, as it seems, accepted the demand for its costs while the meeting did not happen as Saudi Arabia expected because many of the Arab countries rejected to participate in the meeting leading Saudi king to cancel his trip to the event.

Q: What was the reason many of the Arab leaders shined the meeting? Can this approach be taken as failure for Saudi Arabia policies in the Arab League?

A: Everybody was aware that Saudi Arabia intended to use the meeting and participants as a means to continue its failed policies. It is also noteworthy that Saudi policies are quite distanced from principles and international laws including UN resolutions; therefore, it does not intend to pay for costs of its measures.

At present, even former companions of Saudi Arabia among western countries, have distanced from the country and this has influenced stances of the Arab countries with Saudi Arabia because they do not want to accompany the Arab kingdom in its crimes to share the prices for its failed policies.

Q: Where in the Arab League should the origins of Iranophobia be found?

A: Many Arab states are in pursuit of positive friendly ties with Iran and have announced their support for Iran’s stance in several cases, but now in absence of many countries, including Syria and Egypt both victims of Saudi policies, Saudi Arabia has been a leading figure both in the Arab League and in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) making use of many countries as it means in line with its policies. Besides that Saudi Arabia has set Iranophobia project high on its agenda for the past years; hence, it is in the light of this policy that we are witness to a kind of disagreement between the Arab countries and Iran, these disagreements are absolutely fake ones fueled by Saudi Arabia and its ally, Zionist regime of Israel.

Q: Many experts view Riyadh concerns over its regional failures and also fading popularity of the regime among its nation as grounds for recent provocations of the regime in the Arab League. What is your idea in that?

A: Saudi Arabia is already harassed with the issue of power at home. Part of the problem was due to power transition from one generation to another but the problem has not solved among the new generation. Amid this, Saudi Arabia in a bid to draw attentions from home to other countries, has taken several measures, the first one is military atrocities in the region and the second one is spread of Iranophobia when it is struggling to hide behind the issue and involve many of its opposite sides in it.

This can have an aspect of over projection but in a sum what is ongoing in the Arab League is that Saudi Arabia since the beginning has accompanied the Zionist regime in its project, to weaken Arab-Islamic countries, victimizing both the Arab League and OIC.
