Birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in Al-Hussein Mosque, Cairo (photo)
Egyptians have marked the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in Al-Hussein Mosque, Cairo. The mosque is considered to be one of the holiest Islamic sites in the country. It is named for the third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) Dawoodi Bohra and other Sunni Muslims believe that the head belonging to the third Shia Imam is buried on the grounds of the mosque. The occasion is dubbed as ‘Islamic Unity Week’ an initiation of late Imam Khomeini (RA) the founder of Islamic Revolution in Iran to highlight the sanctity of prophet of Islam for Muslims from different denominations and boost the fraternal ties between Muslims across the globe.
